A stunning double feature DVD; BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA is Francis Ford Coppola's interpretation of the classic vampire tale featuring Gary Oldman as the chilling title character. Opening during the medieval period when the crusades call Vlad the Impaler away from his home and true love to fight in the name of God; upon returning, he discovers his wife dead by her own hand, having falsely learned of his death. Vlad renounces God and takes up an immortal life aligned with Satan as Count Dracula. Centuries later real estate agent Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves) visits him on business; upon seeing a picture of his lover Mina Murray (Winona Ryder), the count becomes convinced that she is the reincarnation of his dead love, imprisons Harker, and leaves to pursue the unwitting young woman.
Robert Walton is the captain of a North Pole-bound whaling vessel that picks up a lone man traveling across the ice; that man happens to be Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Kenneth Branagh), and he has a story to tell. Having become obsessed with finding a cure for death after the gruesome demise of his mother during childbirth, the doctor pieced together a man from parts collected from the poor sections of town. Realizing that his appearance would ostracize him forever, denying him all chance for friendship or love, the creature turns on his creator and those close to him including his lover (Helena Bonham-Carter).
