INVITATION TO YOUR PARTY is a highly entertaining collection of the lesser-known tracks that Jerry Lee Lewis cut for the legendary Sun Records. Most of them--like "Night Train to Memphis," "Crazy Arms," and "Jambalaya"--are in Lewis's classic '50s rockabilly style, all pumping piano and echoed vocals, and they're as viscerally exciting as his more famous recordings. But there's also some oddball stuff from the early '60s, with the Killer seemingly looking for a new direction. The title song, for example, is a teen ballad more suited to Bobby Vee than a wildman like Lewis. There are also some straight country tunes ("I Can't Trust Me") that foreshadow the stylistic path the Killer would take in the '70s, and what seems to be an emulation of Leiber and Stoller's production with the Coasters, on "Am I to Be the One."
