CHARLES IN CHARGE is one of those guilty pleasures that only gets better with time, especially if you were a fan of the show when it first aired back in the mid-1980s. There's just something about Scott Baio and Willie Aames that is perfectly emblematic of the era. The third season continues the antics of the previous seasons but with greater emphasis this time around on Charles and Buddy's respective love lives. Of course, there are the usual problems with the kids--now compounded by having reached the turbulent teenage years--and the rest of the Powell family, who are always good for a few laughs, especially Grandpa. As with so many of the episodes, the charm of the show rests in the hands of Charles and Buddy's relationship and the innocent mischief they always seem to get caught up in. For anyone looking to reach back to those long-lost days of sitting on the couch and spending hours in front of the tube, season three should have enough nostalgic value to make every episode enjoyable; or at least have viewers humming the theme song for the rest of the day.
