Singer/songwriter/drummer Bertie Higgins had all but given up on the music business - in the late '60s he was the drummer with the group The Roemans, and toured backing Tommy Roe. He "retired" to his hometown and wrote the material which he became a hit with in the early '80s. The Top 20 hit "Key Largo" and "Just Another Day In Paradise". This collection features his hits and more of his popular favorites.

Collectables' 1996 collection Golden Classics is essentially a retitled reissue of Bertie Higgins' 1982 soft rock classic, Just Another Day in Paradise, with two bonus tracks: "Tokyo Joe" and "Beneath the Island Light." While Epic's CD reissue boasts the original artwork, a better-assembled package, and (arguably) better sound, this does have the extra material, which may make it a better bet for those looking to buy the album for the first time. But while the bonus cuts are good, they're not necessarily enough of an incentive for those who already own the Epic CD to buy it again in this form. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
