He was renowned as one of the finest baritone saxophone players of his era (he also played guitar, alto sax and clarinet). On this collection he turns his attention to the music of the legendary "Bird," Charlie Parker, and his sax playing really takes wing. Sessionmen on this release include Clark Terry, Duke Jordan, Ron Carter and Charlie Persip.
