On the heels of the original Star Wars companies scrambled to put together films which would garner the sci-fi audience which was eager to eat up an alien adventure (after all Star Wars was a "limited engagement" at most theaters). Thus was born StarCrash. I saw it at the drive in. I am almost certain it was called "StarCrashes" (plural) then.
It does not compare with Star Wars but it's not bad either.
