Entertainment Reviews:

Rolling Stone - 10/19/95, p.150
3.5 Stars - Good - "...Without sacrificing their identity as a proud blue-collar rock & roll band, the Bottle Rockets obliterate the redneck stereotype that has long been attached to Southern-style rock..."
Entertainment Weekly - 1/27/95, pp.46-49
"...the Missouri band's no-frills menu of truck stop-jukebox country, electrified twangs, and waltz-time ballads is as unpretentious as a box of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios with milk..." - Rating: A
Q - 7/96, p.151
4 Stars - Excellent - "...bristles with rootsy verve R.E.M. could make fashionable....welds twangy and beery with social realism....exceptional rock is born, complete with 'truck noise that we found inspirational'."
Option - 7-8/95, p.94
"...showcases a blue-collar lyrical sensibility and amiably gruff vocals over surprisingly sprightly and inventive guitar rock..."
Village Voice (2/20/96) - Ranked #35 in Village Voice's 1995 Pazz & Jop Critics' Poll.

Product Description:

Bottle Rockets include: Brian Henneman (vocals).
A touchstone of the 1990s alt-country movement, the Bottle Rockets' THE BROOKLYN SIDE matches literate, Southern gothic-style tales of everyday blue collar life with a twangy brand of hard-hitting rock that's equal parts Molly Hatchet and Husker Du. Produced by legendary Blackhearts/Del Lords guitarist Eric "Roscoe" Ambel, the record injects the Missouri group's music with a distinctly gritty New York edge befitting of Ambel's pedigree. The guitars are alternately twangy and raging and the rhythms roadhouse and punk club-worthy, making THE BROOKLYN SIDE one of the more successful and genuine-sounding melds of country and rock.
