This disc covers the music featured throughout the first season of Class of 3000, The Cartoon Network's series about a music star named Sunny Bridges -- voiced by OutKast's Andr‚ 3000, an executive producer of the show whose real life somewhat reflects that of Bridges -- who drops his career to give back to his community as a music teacher. There are 14 brief but full songs here, many of which showcase the talents of drummer Li'l D, harpist Tamika, percussionist Kim, keyboardist Kam, bassist Philly Phil, clarinetist Edward, and violinist Madison. Bridges is the main star, however, guiding the kids through a broad range of styles, from funk to classical to jazz (and, naturally, hip-hop). There's a lot of character, playfulness, and humor in the songs, and they have lasting value beyond a couple listens. ~ Andy Kellman
