A beautiful woman with a bag of gold rides into a god-forsaken town on the edge of the Sierras. She is desperately searching for someone to help rescue her husband, a prospector who has been buried in a landslide while fighting off a gang of bandits intent on seizing his claim. The lure of wealth and the woman's ripe beauty persuade renegade Confederate officer, Joe Collins, to come to her aid. By helping the miner's wife, Collins knows he will be going head-to-head with Chato, the sadistic leader of the bandit horde. Having been promised a share of the mine, Collins is shocked when he reaches the site and discovers that the miner has been tortured to death and all of his gold stolen. Collins and his small band vow to wreak revenge on the murderer and reclaim the treasure.
Jeffrey Hunter is the ruggedly handsome star of this gritty and violent spaghetti Western from 1968, filmed one year before his tragic death from stroke at the young age of 43. Hunter gained fame for his role in The Searchers (1956) with John Wayne, later receiving rave notices for his performances in Hell to Eternity (1960) and King of Kings (1961).
When a geologist and his sister discover gold on the Mexican border, they come across a band of ruthless outlaws determined to steal their newfound treasure. Soon, the brother is murdered and the gold is stolen. This leaves one angry young woman with her eyes set on revenge. She decides to summon the help of a Confederate soldier (Jeffrey Hunter) to help her regain what she has lost and avenge the murder of her sibling.
