Description by

Struggling writer Matt Spencer and his young wife are shocked to find that he is the beneficiary of his great uncle Simon's will. Excited, the couple rush off to the sleepy English town of Sloughborough and find that the inheritance is a movie theater. Unfortunately, they also discover that the theater is far from what they've expected. Along with the 'flea pit' known as the Bijou Theatre, Matt has inherited its staff of oddball characters; Mrs. Fazackalee - the ticket lady; 'Old Tom' the janitor; and Mr. Quill (Peter Sellers) - the only projectionist that can keep the Bijou's antiquated projectors running. The couple hopes to sell the rundown theater, but that may prove to be harder than they thought.

British-born Peter Sellers is often considered one of the greatest comedians of all time. Starting off in radio in the early 50s, Sellers' first big film break came in 1955 playing the criminal Harry in The Ladykillers. During the 60s and 70s, Sellers played a number of memorable characters, most notably as Dr. Strangelove in the 1964 movie of the same title, and Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the original Pink Panther films.

Product Description:

When a young married couple inherit a dilapidated old theater in a small English town, they decide to sell it. However, Matt and Jean Spenser quickly realize the offer made by a competing cinema is smaller than the debts they have inherited along with the building. As a result, they come up with a scheme to hold a grand reopening that they hope will drive up its value. But Matt and Jean don't count on their three wacky employees who prove they will go to any lengths to make sure the theater stays open.

It's always a joy watching Peter Sellers even if this film is nothing great. It's just a light and fluffy British comedy.
