2003 continued the tradition of having a soundtrack as a dominant vehicle in the promotion of the movie, with one of the biggest of them all being the juggernaut compilation that became the Bad Boys II soundtrack. While this doesn't have the pop-star-power Bad Boys II so strongly had, this does have an all-star R&B/hip-hop lineup that gives it a run for its money. Keeping with the trend of having to be virtually everywhere at once, P. Diddy makes an appearance, collaborating with Pharrell and Busta Rhymes, with the near legendary second installment of "Pass the Courvoisier." The lead single also features Busta Rhymes with Chingy, Fat Joe, and Nick Cannon taking turns with the brilliant "Shorty (Put It On the Floor)." Joe Budden also chimes with "Baby Girl," and while it's not as strong as "Pump It Up" (his contribution to the movie soundtrack 2 Fast 2 Furious), it still fits in with the rest of the blend quite nicely. Some excellent contributions from R&B stars new (Jill Scott, R. Kelly) and old (a welcome return to the limelight for Ginuwine) mixes the pot quite nicely, with lack of any mentionable filler. While not as star-studded as Bad Boys II, Love Don't Cost a Thing sure is more than up to the task of being just simply a solid R&B hit that compliments the themes of the movie surprisingly well. ~ Rob Theakston
