Description by OLDIES.com:
The deeply soulful Willie Hightower can best be described as "underrated". He recorded some funky southern Soul for a few labels before he began his collaboration with producer and music entrepreneur Bobby Robinson. In the late '60s, this partnership led to Hightower's biggest hit, "It's a Miracle", which was released in 1969. This disc focus on the songs Hightower recorded for the Robinson's Fire label.

With a wonderful voice that can range from a Sam Cooke-like sweetness to a gritty, deep south roar, Willie Hightower deserves more attention than he has ever gotten. This ten-song set may be brief, but it's packed with some powerful numbers, including the bustling "Ooh Baby How I Love You," the wrenching "It's Too Late," a delightful version of "If I Had a Hammer," and the emotionally devastating "What Am I Looking For?," all of which would be well-known pop radio staples in a fair and equitable world. It's a short set, but it'll get things running in a hurry. ~ Steve Leggett
