A secret cache of precious ivory lies in a cave, deep in the Forbidden Territory of the Congo, a grueling three-week journey by foot through the most dangerous jungles in the world. Only two white men know the whereabouts of the treasure, but one of them, suffering from a fever, dies under mysterious circumstances after confiding the location to another hunter, Phil Talbot. Desperate to get his hands on the riches, Talbot mounts an expedition with the help of an American entrepreneur and his daughter. When the dead man's original partner arrives in Africa to protect his share of the ivory, the deadly safari becomes even more treacherous.
Director Andrew L. Stone was still cutting his directorial teeth when he filmed this early talkie in 1932. Two decades later he garnered an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Julie, a bizarre thriller he wrote and directed in 1956, featuring Doris Day. Stone also helmed the 1943 musical classic, Stormy Weather, with Lena Horne, Cab Calloway and Fats Waller.
The quest for a precious shipment of African elephant ivory leads to intrigue and danger.
