The classic James Fenimore Cooper adventure The Last of the Mohicans is brought to all its blood and thunder glory in this Mascot serial from 1932 starring Harry Carey as the rugged Indian scout Hawkeye. During the French and Indian War, Hawkeye escorts Colonel Munro's daughters, Cora and Alice, as they travel the war-torn wilderness to the safety of Fort William Henry. With the help of brave warriors Chingachgook and Uncas, Hawkeye fights deadly battles with the Hurons, who have joined forces with the French in an attempt to decimate the Mohicans.
Harry Carey first appeared in pictures with the Biograph Company under the direction of D. W. Griffith in 1909, and went on to stardom over 200 silent westerns. In 1931, the aging Carey revived his career by playing the lead in MGM's African adventure Trader Horn, following up with a string of serials- The Vanishing Legion (1931), The Last of the Mohicans (1932) and The Devil Horse (1932). After a long career collaborating with directors such as Howard Hawks and John Ford, Carey died in 1947.
