"...this four-man ensemble has done it again...dim the lights, uncork the champagne and, well, you get the idea..." - Rating: A

"...full of candelit romantic moods..."
Fourplay: Nathan East (vocals, bass).Lee Ritenour (guitar, guitar synthesizer); Bob James (keyboards, synthesizer); Harvey Mason (vibraphone, marimba, drums, percussion).
Additional personnel: Chaka Khan, Philip Bailey, Chante Moore, Dee Fredrix (vocals); Harvey Mason Jr. (synthesizer, drum programming); Phil Perry.
It is not too surprising that Fourplay started out fairly popular, for the group, in addition to bassist Nathan East and drummer Harvey Mason, teams together keyboardist Bob James and guitarist Lee Ritenour. Their playing on this Warner Bros. release results in easy listening crossover with touches of jazz heard in the melodic solos, along with poppish R&B rhythms. Nathan East's vocals dominate a few selections. ~ Scott Yanow
