A group of European businessmen hire dragon lady Sonya Rokoff (Luana Walters) to destroy Chinatown. She enlists the aid of criminal mastermind Victor Poten (Bela Lugosi), who approaches the assignment with so much zeal that it even terrifies Sonya. Poten disguises his henchmen as Chinese gangsters who wreak havoc in the city's streets. When a pair of reporters seek to get to the bottom of the death and violence, they incur the wrath of Poten who vows to kill them. Although they manage to escape his nefarious death traps, the reporters find themselves in the middle of an all-out war, as Poten's nefarious scheme sinks Chinatown into bloody chaos.

Originally released as a 15-part serial, Shadow Of Chinatown was re-edited into a feature by original director Bob Hill, who quickened the pace and tension in this special version.

One of the longest film serials ever produced, THE SHADOW OF CHINATOWN stars Bela Lugosi as the nefarious Victor Poten, a man who possesses mysterious powers and is hired by a ruthless dragon lady to help her gain wealth and power. Five hours long and comprised of 15 chapters, this classic serial contains numerous cliffhangers as well as an appropriately creepy performance by the legendary Lugosi.
