"[I]t manages to sustain a goofy-sweet comic energy and offers sly observations about assimilation, sibling rivalry and the art of competitive maternal bragging."
New York Times - 09/05/2008
"A race-based comedy with a mischievous, post-race sensibility, PING PONG PLAYA mines hip-hop comedy gold from the least gangsta context imaginable: the assimilated Chinese-Americans of suburban California."
Film Comment - 09/01/2008
"[A]n agreeably family-friendly film devoid of gooeyness....Like the game itself, the film's charm lies in its simplicity and zippy pace."
