Additional personnel include: George Morton, Adelaide Hall (vocals). Though it was assembled by the successful by jazz music publisher and manager Irving Mills in the mid-1930s, the Mills Blue Rhythm Band never came more than a distant third in popularity behind the two other major Mills acts, Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway. However, it boasted such talents as the trombonist J.C. Higginbotham and the trumpeters Harry "Sweets" Edison and Red Allen among its members, and, as this collection (which also features Fats Waller on piano) demonstrates, it could hold its own with the best orchestras of the day.
