Product Description:

History of Rock: The Doo Wop Era, Pt. 1 collects 24 tracks drawn from sources both classic and obscure and ends up being, if not exactly definitive, at least a whole lot of fun with a nice mix of up-tempo rockers and dreamy ballads. The classics are Dion & the Belmonts' "I Wonder Why," the Capris' "There's a Moon Out Tonight," the Edsels' "Rama Lama Ding Dong," the Mystics' "Hushabye," Louie Lymon's "I'm So Happy," and the Videos' "Trickle, Trickle." The rest of the disc is made up of tracks unfamiliar to casual doo wop fans yet which make up in quality what they lack in recognition. Best of the bunch are the Students' "I'm So Young," the Shells' "Baby Oh Baby," the Excellents' "Coney Island Baby," and the Collegians' "Zoom Zoom Zoom." Collectors may scoff but casual doo wop fans will be knocked out by this disc. ~ Tim Sendra
