The three young women whose voices are the foundation of 3LW are practitioners of a particularly cagey brand of teen-pop. The opening track of the trio's eponymous debut album makes use of an electronically treated vocal effect similar to (but more subtle than) the one that stuck Cher's "Believe" in so many ears and minds a couple of years earlier.
The girls' coy harmonies on "Is You Feelin' Me" are charmingly coquettish. Throughout the album the group utilizes the same brand of pop hooks, R&B melisma, and hip-hop production that has made stars of so many of their peers.
