Plot Synopsis:

Dottie Ingels, a single mother raising two daughters in Queens, sells cosmetics at Macy's and dreams of being a stand-up comedian. When an aunt dies, leaving her a small inheritance, Dottie decides to make the dream a reality by moving to Manhattan and throwing herself into the fast-paced world of New York stand-up comedy. Dottie's rise to success is meteoric, but as her life is increasingly taken up with travel and television appearances, she finds less and less time to spend with her girls. Can Dottie pursue her brilliant new career without sacrificing her close and loving relationship with her children'
