In a devious plot to steal the Count Of Monte Cristo's wealth, scoundrels trap his mischievous son, Dantes (Robert Clarke), in a compromising postion romancing a married woman. Caught in the act, he kills her jealous husband and is imprisoned. He is offered his release if he marries the now-widowed Claire (Catherine McLeod) and signs away his inheritance. The conspirators are unaware that Claire and Dantes have fallen in love. He fakes his own death in prison and escapes. Daring duels, swordfights, and plot twists highlight this swashbuckling adventure.
