The adventures of frontier hero Jim Bowie are brought to life in the popular children's television series that ran from 1956-1958. Armed with the legendary "Bowie" knife, he travels America's untamed wilderness encountering hostile Indians, ruthless settlers, savage beasts and unknown dangers. Featuring an unforgettable theme song by Ken Darby and the King's Men, "The Adventures Of Jim Bowie" introduced an entire generation to one of America's bravest adventurers.
Episode 1:Jim meets a arrogant woman who plans to drive a poor immigrant couple off of her land by burning down their cabin. She learns a lesson in human decency when Jim comes to the rescue.
Episode 2:A near-fatal encounter with a ferocious bear spurs the invention of the famous "Bowie" knife. A jammed flintlock rifle almost costs Jim his life and he resolves to design a weapon he can rely on. This is the most famous episode in the series.
Episode 3:Hostile French settlers refuse to sell animal pelts to outsiders in the wilderness of Louisiana. Jim discovers the fur trade is run by the corrupt Western Trading Company and decides to put an end to their monopoly.
Episode 4:After his brother is shot Jim rushes home to discover that his family has been swindled out of a land grant. The charlatan behind the deceit is a knife-fighting master who may prove to be Bowie's greatest challenge.
