Description by OLDIES.com:

A wealthy man and his lovely daughter, Edith Bentley, arrive in Singapore to purchase the Tear of Buddha, a priceless ruby. When an attempt is made on their lives, investigator Jack Wilson is called in to protect the gem. He suspects that the culprit is his old enemy Johnny Fly and when Edith is kidnapped along with the jewel, their old conflict is renewed. By disguising himself as the brute, Butch Curtain, Jack is able to infiltrate the enemy's hideout to rescue the girl. When the detective's identity is uncovered, he must fight to save Edith, the ruby and his own life.

In Scream In The Night, Lon Chaney Jr. starred in a dual role as the strikingly good-looking Wilson and the disfigured Butch Curtain. It was for this film that producer Ray Kirkwood convinced the actor to change his name from Creighton Chaney to Lon Chaney Jr. in order to capitalize on his father's fame.
