Here is a journeyman's collection of the legendary Tex Ritter. Everything here is worthwhile, but it's far from a definitive or even mostly desirable set not because of what's here, but because of what is left off. There are some fine moments on this compilation such as "I've Got Spurs, That Jingle, Jangle, Jingle," "Haven't I Stayed Away Too Long," and his understated "Celito Lindo." The reading of "Froggie Went a-Courtin'" that's here is simply corny. The price is right for those who don't have any Tex Ritter, but there are better comps than this one by far. ~ Thom Jurek
