Coach of the Year
Robert Conrad plays Jim Brandon, formerly a star athlete, now a wheelchair-bound Vietnam vet. The embittered, self-involved Brandon is hired to coach a team of teenagers at a correctional facility. Once he's "reached" these so-called incorrigibles, Brandon begins to see his own life in a different light.
The Boxer (1972)
Robert Blake plays a young boxer accused of murdering his crooked manager. Escaping from detective Perkins (Ernest Borgnine), he sets about to uncover the real killer on his own.
Coach of the year
Jim Brandon, a former player of the Chigago Bears, has been paralysed during the Vietnam-war. When he returns, he tries to get a job as a football-coach, but he doesn't succeed. After a visit to the youth-prison St.Charles he thinks of becoming the football- coach there. He decides to do it, 'cause he likes the challenge. The boys, young delinquents, don't accept him, but he goes all out to be accepted.
Fourteen years later, Danny is released from prison and returns to his old working class neighborhood to resume his life as a boxer, fighting and opening a boxing club training aspiring boxers. Maggie has since married Danny's best friend, who is also imprisoned for his I.R.A. activities.
