Two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field (Best Actress, Places in the Heart, 1984 and Norma Rae, 1979) returns for a second season of fun in "The Flying Nun". Sister Bertrille uses her ability to become airborne - via her "jet" cornet - to help others, whether they want it or not. Although her aims are always benevolent, her means are often bemoaned by Mother Superior (Madeleine Sherwood). The other Sisters (Marge Redmond, Shelley Morrison, Linda Dangcil) must cope with their beloved Sister's aerodynamics and antics as she flies into and out of trouble with her canine companion, Horatio. This hilarious season features memorable guest stars such as Jamie Farr, Paul Lynde, Rich Little, and many others.
Sally Field stars as the eponymous character Sister Bertrille in this charming sitcom from the 1960s. A former surfer girl turned sister, the well-meaning but often accident-prone nun is able to take advantage of her slight frame to take flight on the wings of her cornet. She often comes to the aid--wanted or otherwise--of people in the community of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where her convent is located. Sister Bertrille also has a friendship with a playboy casino owner, Carlos (Alejandro Rey), which is the source of much humor. In the second season, Sister Bertrille writes a song for the Sundowners, who appear as guests in this psychedelic episode. She also receives a visit from a former boyfriend, mends a cow's broken heart, and is suspected of theft on a couple of occasions.
