Originally released in 2000, when identical twins Tegan and Sara Quinn were only 19 years old, THIS BUSINESS OF ART is the album that most reveals the sisters' folk-rock roots. Like a younger, hipper Indigo Girls, THIS BUSINESS OF ART updates the singer-songwriter folk-rock of the 1970s for the indie generation, adding sardonic commentary and a more overt political subtext to largely acoustic songs like the defiant "Proud." Other highlights include "All You Got," "More For Me," and the wryly ironic album closer, "Superstar." After the closure of the sisters' original label, THIS BUSINESS OF ART was reissued in 2007 in a basically identical package.
