DEVOTED TO YOU is a very interesting collection of early Everly Brothers ballads recorded between 1957 and 1960, during the Everlys' tenure at Cadence Records. This material arguably represents their peak creative period. DEVOTED mixes familiar hits ("Devoted to You," "All I Have to Do is Dream," "When Will I Be Loved") with B-sides and with outtakes and demos previously unreleased in America-including the exquisite "Life Ain't Worth Living." Interestingly, the less familiar material tends to skew more toward the Everlys' country roots. "I Wonder if I Care as Much," for example, is one of the very few Everly Brothers songs graced with pedal-steel guitar.
