One of Britain's most popular and longest-aired comedies, LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE, began routinely airing annual holiday specials from early in its run, that placed the characters in a Christmas setting and followed their yuletide adventures. This box set contains four such specials, from 1986, '87, '88 and '89. First up is MERRY CHRISTMAS, FATHER CHRISTMAS, where Seymour devises and executes a nutty plan to dress Compo up as Santa Claus and launch him onto a nearby roof. Next on the bill is BIG DAY AT DREAM ACRES, where the three lead characters make a heartfelt attempt to reunite a homeless person with his childhood donkey. Third up is CRUMS, where Foggy, Compo and Seymour each dress up as Santa Claus and wind up at an unusual holiday celebration. Finally, in WHAT'S SANTA BROUGHT FOR NORA, THEN, Compo tries desperately to earn money in order to buy Nora the ideal Christmas present.
