"...a tight four-piece ensemble...frames [Neal's] soulful vocals and wailing guitar and harmonica....While Neal's unit has a modern, polished sound, it's far from sterile. His crying Tele-squeezed phrases...ring with an honesty that's as real as anything from the past..."

"...When Neal proudly proclaims he's Carrying The Torch for the genre's tradition, believe him--but be aware he's propelling it into new, exciting directions as well....another standout entry in Kenny Neal's remarkably consistent discography..."

Neal is one of the most impressive young blues artists on the scene today -- a fact borne out by the contents of this collection. Ably backed by a band that includes his brother Noel on bass and keyboardist Lucky Peterson, Neal indulges in a couple of covers this time, but the majority of the disc is original and incendiary. ~ Bill Dahl
