Product Description:

This extremely brief ten-song collection is certainly interesting as a timepiece, and sides like Procol Harum's "Lighter Shade of Pale" and the Byrds' "Eight Miles High" (with its John Coltrane-inspired 12-string guitar breaks) are undisputed classics in the short-lived psychedelic pop movement, but one wonders if songs like Thunderclap Newman's "Something in the Air," good and memorable as it is, is truly psychedelic in any way. Similarly, the Troggs' "With a Girl Like You" strays closer to bubblegum pop, while the Seeds' "Pushin' Too Hard" is more a prescient slice of garage punk. Psychedelic is as psychedelic does, perhaps. Otherwise, it's called marketing. ~ Steve Leggett
