In the lush, semi-tropical atmosphere of Southeast Florida, there is a section of Miami with the name of Coconut Grove - known as "The Grove." A visit there reveals a striking resemblance to New York's Greenwich Village and has the same presence of artists, intellects, hippies and swingers. The inhabitants of "The Grove" all have a common pursuit: to live life to the fullest, regardless of the consequences. To outsiders, their far-out scene is known as The Naked Zoo.
This is the setting for the motion picture that brings one of Hollywood's brightest stars from the golden age of cinema, Rita Hayworth, back to the screen.
In her role, Miss Hayworth portrays Mrs. Golden, who is married to a man who is both wealthy and crippled. Because of his physical condition, he has not touched his beautiful wife in years. Mrs. Golden finds solace with an aspiring young writer, Terry Shaw (Stephen Oliver), who desperately needs the money he obtains in the role of Mrs. Golden's lover.
Rita Hayworth completists will find this film a welcome addition to their collection. Filmed in the twilight of her career, NAKED ZOO features the screen legend as Mrs. Golden, an adulterous wife whose wheelchair-bound husband gets shot when he discovers his wife's dalliance. When Mrs. Golden begins to drown her guilt in pills and booze, her husband comes back for revenge.
