Performers, Cast and Crew:
A New York thug suddenly stumbles onto fame and fortune as an actor in Hollywood, and some of the old gang of mobsters come to visit him hoping to cash in on their buddy's new celebrity status.
Dan Quigley is an expert swindler who can smell a confidence game from a mile away. So when some crooks try to con him, he catches on swiftly and demands that they let him in on their scheme. For a while the riches roll in, but then something goes drastically wrong during a routine robbery. The gang quickly departs for California, where the cops nab Dan. Although the police haven't the evidence to keep him in prison, Dan finds himself abandoned by his low-life comrades. His luck changes for the better, however, when he lands a small job as an extra in a Hollywood movie. Dan manages to parlay this break into a career... but just when it seems as if success is around the corner, his old buddies show up, demanding a piece of the pie. Now Dan has to figure out how to get rid of these hoods and live an honest and decent life.
