Pura Salsa is a collection of 14 tracks by the inimitable "Mr. Afrique," percussionist and salsero Willie Rosario pieced together from recordings made by Rosario in the late '70s through the mid-'80s, a period that netted the classic album From the Depths of My Brain. Rosario is perhaps the king of Puerto Rican salseros because his music has continued to change from the '60s through the present day. There are stellar cuts here including "Ataca," "Como Eres Tu," and "A Toda Cuba Le Gusta," just to name a few. ~ Thom Jurek
