Besides a tejano collection of southwestern polkas, rancheras and cumbias led by bajo sexto guitar and Jimenez on accordion, this recording boasts two corridos (narrative ballads). One tells the tale of American student Eseqiuel Hernandez' demise (he was mistaken for an illegal immigrant by the Marines) and the other is about a migrant worker who enjoys some success in America but longs to return to Mexico. Notes and lyrics to El Corrido are in Spanish and English. ~ Tom Schulte
