"There's some nice filmmaking tucked inside WHAT GOES UP....The antagonism that comes to a boil between Campbell and Tess gives the film some bristling tension."
HAMLET 2's Steve Coogan makes a departure from traditional comedy with this drama set in the days before the launch of the Challenger shuttle. The British actor stars as Campbell Babbitt, a journalist who has left New York for a small town in New Hampshire, where teacher/astronaut Christa McAuliffe is from. But his assignment to write about the hero doesn't hold his interest--instead, he concentrates on a group of students who are reeling from the death of their teacher. WHAT GOES UP also stars Hilary Duff, Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby, and Molly Shannon.
When a group of teenage social misfits befriend a jaded journalist on assignment in their small New Hampshire town, they all find themselves searching for meaning and truth in their crazy, mixed-up lives.
