"JUDEX is one of very few silents whose inventiveness and charisma, matched by its good humour and open heart, would seem to guarantee its eternal youth."
Film Comment - 07/01/2004
"[F]ascinating....With a hyperabundance of intriguing detail and the occasional intrusion of something spectacularly strange or erotic."
Chronicling the adventures of one of the silent era's first superheroes JUDEX is a remarkable French serial from the great director Louis Feuillade (LES VAMPIRES). JUDEX (Rene Creste) sets out to stop the evil banker Favraux (Louis Leubas) who had wronged his family years before. When JUDEX falls for Jacqueline (Yvette Andreyor) the lovely daughter of Favraux our hero is torn between his sworn duty and the love he so desires. Told in 12 parts and featuring an original score by renowned silent film composer Robert Israel JUDEX is important part of film history.
