SUPER HITS spotlights the high point of the long career of Paul Revere And The Raiders. Not their early days as frat-rock kings of the Pacific Northwest, or the late '60s era when Mark Lindsay effectively took control of the band, but that glorious four-year period when the group moved to LA, became the house band on Dick Clark's WHERE THE ACTION IS! and hooked up with the finest songwriters of the era and, in Terry Melcher, one of the finest producers.
This compilation sounds great (the versions of "Just Like Me" and "Him or Me--What's It Gonna Be" are late '90s first-time stereo remixes). But if it whets your appetite you should look for "The Essential Ride--'63-'67," a 20-song best-of that, besides including the essential "Steppin' Out," generally provides a more nuanced portrait of this great American band.
