The celebrated duo of Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke are back as the famous Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in a two-hour feature film by Granada Television. The Master Blackmailer is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure Of Charles Augustus Milverton." For years, an insidious blackmailer has preyed on the weaknesses of others throughout London. When Holmes hears of the complete misery and suffering this menacing mystery man is creating, he goes on a campaign to thwart his evil scheming. Even Dr. Watson is astonished by the strangeness of Holmes' crusade to expose "the worst man in London" in The Master Blackmailer, a case that also find Holmes falling in love.

Sherlock Holmes devises a cunning plan to snare a ruthless blackmailer, who has been causing widespread misery throughout London. And this time, even his loyal sidekick Dr. Watson finds his campaign a little strange. In this story, based on Conan Doyle's characters, a softened version of Holmes also falls in love.
