Made during World War 2 the movie has a large all star cast, including Johnny Weismuller, Tallulah Bankhead, Merle Oberon, Ethel Merman, Ray Bolger, and many more. Also appearing are Kaye Kyser and his band, Guy Lombardo and his band, and Xavier Cugat and his band. The musical numbers are great, and there are many of them. The movie centers around soldiers who come to the Canteen and meet women who are to give them a good time while they are on leave. One soldier and his girl fall in love and spend an entire night together. It is his last night, as he has to report for duty the next day. His girlfriend hears that the soldiers may be coming back, but she goes to meet him, but he isn't there. He is fighting in the war. A heartwarming movie, and one you will want to see again and again.

This is a musical that has it all: comedy, romance, 4 orchestras(Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, Kaye Kyser and Xavier Cugat), Stars Galore- from Merle Oberon, Katherine Hepburn, Johnny Weismuller, Tallulah Bankhead, Ray Bolger, and many more. The story is about soldiers who meet and fall in love with hostesses in the Canteen during World War 2. Ray Bolger does some great dancing steps. There are some memorable songs here also, such as "We Musn't Say Goodbye". This movie is a treat from start to finish.

This is a wonderful film for anyone interested in American music during WW II. And this movie contains a whole load of various bands playing their hits in the standard 'WW II Hollywood Canteen" style film for soldiers heading off to war. The line up of talent is extraordanaryly grand, and you can't miss with this one... Cab Calloway, Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, Kay Kaiser, Ethel Merman, Count Basie, even a music piece by Harpo Marx on the harp!!

This movie is a great musical and romance combined together. There is a great stellar cast including Katherine Hepburn, Merle Oberon, Ray Bolger, Johnny Weismuller, and others. If you like big band music, here it is: Benny Goodman, Sammy Kaye, Guy Lombardo, Xavier Cougat. It is patriotic in that it is during World War 2 when this movie was made. The romance between a soldier and his girl is well done. This movie also is a tearjerker at times, but it is a must see for those who love old musicals and romance.
