If you only ever buy one Smokey Robinson album, this is the one to get. It features prime cuts, such as the immortal "Shop Around" and Robinson's solo "Just to See Her," recorded between 1960 and 1987.
The set tilts towards Robinson's '60s work, from the period when Bob Dylan described him, with some justification, as "America's greatest living poet." The disco era is represented, too, in this case by a long version of "Love Machine."
