The soundtrack to John Houston's movie adaptation of the Broadway blockbuster Annie is fitfully entertaining, featuring good versions of "Tomorrow," "It's the Hard-Knock Life," and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile." Even though the glossy production sounds good and most of the vocalists sound good, the soundtrack isn't as consistent or rich as the original cast recording. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
