Description by OLDIES.com:

Jack Nicholson plays Henry Moore, a third-rate outlaw, in this romantic comedy set in the 1860's. Nicholson is saved from hanging by the intervention of a lovely young woman who agrees to marry and take charge of him. Mary Steenburgen plays Julia Tate, the headstrong but genteel Southern virgin who weds Nicholson only to help her work the gold mine she insists is on her property. Both Steenburgen and John Belushi made their film debuts in this amusing western.

Product Description:

Jack Nicholson directs and stars as a downtrodden outlaw who finds a loophole that lets him evade the gallows by slipping a wedding ring on a lonely spinster (Mary Steenburgen). Not much for the married life, he is then forced to work on her gold mine as he dreams of escaping to Mexico. This bawdy western comedy marked the screen debut of Steenburgen and features John Belushi and Christopher Lloyd in hilarious supporting turns as corrupt deputies.
