The authenticity of the NBC anthology series POLICE STORY (1973-77) was at least partially traceable to its source: Joseph Wambaugh, an ex-LAPD Detective Sergeant who left the force to become a bestselling crime author. Yet realism permeated other details as well, on a remarkable level - such as the fact that the stories themselves were culled from actual police case files, and the fact that the celebrity actors (many of them lesser-known character players) were frequently chosen for their resemblance to the actual participants. Narratives straddled both rural areas and big city operations. The feature-length pilot, SLOW BOY, originally ran on March 20, 1973 and was rebroadcast September 25, 1973; the 21 regular Season One episodes ran October 2, 1973 through March 26, 1974. This box set contains all 22 of the said installments.
