Tiny Bradshaw was one of the R&B stars of Syd Nathan's King Records in the 1950s, but he was already a veteran of over twenty years in the music business by that time - having had recorded for the Decca, Regis, Manor and Savoy labels before landing with King in late 1949. Bradshaw's career with King, while really only lasting about five years, was unusually successful, having hits both with vocals and instrumentals. His band was also used recording behind various King artists. As a performer, Bradshaw was consistently cited as a top drawing band of the day along with Buddy Johnson and Earl Bostic.

Product Description:
Liner Note Author: Victor Pearlin.
The 25 tracks on The Very Best of Tiny Bradshaw: Well Oh Well were originally recorded for the King label in the late '40s and early '50s, and contain the majority of his beloved jump blues favorites such as "Heavy Juice," "Well Oh Well," "I'm Going to Have Myself a Ball," "Walkin' the Chalk Line," and (of course) "Train Kept A Rollin'." This Collectables compilation makes a fine primer for the novice, but collectors will want to pick up Bradshaw's chronological discs on the Classics label spotlighting 1934-1947 and 1949-1951. ~ Al Campbell
