Wynonie Harris earned the nickname "Mr. Blues" as one of the premier blues shouters of his era, surpassing all of his competition in sales as well as the more subjective category of artistry. Although he recorded for a number of other labels over a twenty year period, it is these recordings that he made for the King Records label for which his fame was so rightfully earned.

Product Description:
Liner Note Author: Victor Pearlin.
The 25 tracks on Very Best of Wynonie Harris: Good Rockin' Tonight were originally recorded for the King label in the late '40s and early '50s and contain the majority of his well-loved favorites, including "Rock Mr. Blues," "Bloodshot Eyes," "Sittin' On It All the Time," "Good Morning Judge," and of course "Good Rockin' Tonight." This compilation gives the Rhino set Bloodshot Eyes: The Best of Wynonie Harris a run for its money by adding seven extra cuts. Either set is recommended alongside the Classics label's 1945-1947 series, which spotlights the legendary blues shouter's early jump sides for Hamp-Tone, Bullet, and Aladdin. ~ Al Campbell
