Though it bills itself The Very Best of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Collectables' compilation doesn't quite live up to that title, since it's missing several definitive singles, including "Sexy Ways," "Work With Me Annie," and "Annie Had a Baby." However, it does feature some of Ballard's more pop-oriented songs, such as "Teardrops on Your Letter," "Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go," "Finger Poppin' Time," and "The Twist." The inclusion of songs like "Work With Me Annie" would have made this album almost as good of a retrospective as Sexy Ways: The Best of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters; as it stands, it's just a decent collection of Ballard's mid-career work. ~ Heather Phares

If you are a fan of the late Hank Ballard, This is the essential CD for you. Hank turned the Midnighters, into a 3nd R&B Group to a 1st class R&B. Hank however never got the recognition he deserved. He wrote and recorded the Twist before Chubby Checker, and it went no were. His version for the R&B fan is the best. Up on the Hill classic Hank, Buy this CD.
