Vocalist Marilyn Maye began her career as a teenager on her own radio show. She got her big break by appearing on the Steve Allen Show in the late '50s. (The late Allen provides the liner notes for these two albums, which were originally released by RCA). Among the torchy ballads and brassy upbeat tunes you'll hear are "Misty", "Take Five", and "Too Late Now".

Music Lover: Mike Harper from Fort Lauderdale Florida -- August, 8, 2006
Well folks, When I first heard Marilyn on Music choice TV , my ears perked right to attention, and I sought out to find this wonderful songbird. As a lover of great vocalists and jazz, I couldnt believe I hadnt heard Marilyn until now. It would be impossible to start reviewing every track on Meet "Marvelous Marilyn Maye". This CD is something that you have to hear for yourself! I am simply amazed at the level of talent and musicially Marilyn displays here. Her singing is spectacular, as is her pitch ,and the interpretations she gives these classic gems is thrilling.. ! I highly recomend anything you can find on Marilyn Maye.. A JOY! A Delight! and singing at it FINEST!!
Uneven collcetion of songs!
Music Lover: James Holtz from Madison, WI USA -- February, 24, 2005
While Marilyn is a great student of the Ella school of jazz pop singing, these recordings aren't her very best. I wish Maye's "Taste of Sherry" & "Step to Rear" would be released on a 2-on-1 CD. Please!
