The house band for the famous Birdland Jazz Club in New York City featured musicians which were the best of their time: tenor sax player Al Cohn, sax and clarinet player Phil Woods, trumpeters Conte Candoli and Kenny Dorham, bass player John Simmons, drummer Kenny Clark, and keyboardist Hank Jones. Key tunes such as "A Bit Of The Blues," "For Kicks Only," and "Birdland Fantasy" showcase all the musicians' individual strengths as well as their strong ensemble work.
